This Privacy Policy explains how Herb Charm collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Herb Charm mobile app and related support channels.

1. Scope
This policy applies to the Herb Charm iOS app, including in-app features such as daily facts, saved facts, custom collections, appearance preferences, and purchase handling through Apple services.
This policy does not apply to third-party sites or services that are not controlled by us, including the Apple App Store and Apple payment infrastructure.

3. What information we collect
3.1 Information stored locally on device

The app stores the following data locally to deliver core features:

- Saved facts (bookmarked content)
- User-created collections and fact membership
- Daily fact progress and ordering state
- Appearance preference (Light or Dark mode)
- App content database cache generated from bundled JSONL content
3.2 Purchase-related information
​
Herb Charm uses Apple StoreKit APIs for in-app purchase flow and entitlement checks. Payment credentials are processed by Apple, not by Herb Charm.

- Transaction verification state provided by Apple
- Purchase/restore status used to unlock app functionality

3.3 Support communications

If you email support, we receive the information you include (email address, message text, screenshots, and optional diagnostics you choose to send).

3.4 Data we do not intentionally collect
​
- No mandatory account registration data
- No direct collection of payment card numbers
- No ad tracking identifiers for third-party ad targeting
- No user-uploaded medical records as a required app feature

4. How we use information
We use data only for legitimate app operations, including:

- Displaying one daily fact in a stable per-user order
- Saving and organizing facts into collections
- Maintaining app settings such as appearance mode
- Checking and restoring purchase access via Apple services
- Responding to support and legal requests
- Preventing abuse, fraud, and technical misuse

- Infrastructure providers: Hosting/email providers used for support operations.
- Legal authorities: if required by law, court order, or enforceable request.
Current app builds are configured to store main user data locally on device by default. If a future version enables optional iCloud/CloudKit sync, this policy will be updated and users will be informed.

6. Data retention
- In-app local data remains until you delete it or remove the app.
- Support emails are retained as needed to resolve requests and comply with legal obligations.
- Purchase records are managed primarily within Apple systems according to Apple policies.

7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No system can guarantee 100% security.
You can improve security by keeping iOS updated, using device passcode/biometric lock, and avoiding jailbroken devices.

8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

- Access personal data we process about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of data where legally applicable
- Object to or restrict certain processing

9. Children's privacy
Herb Charm is not designed to knowingly collect personal data from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child provided personal information through support channels, contact us to request deletion.

If data is processed in countries outside your jurisdiction, we will take steps required by applicable law to protect data. Apple and other providers may process data in multiple regions based on their infrastructure.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, by providing in-app or website notice.
